Simple Cooking Instructions – Pan-Fried Chicken Liver

  1. Prepare: Thaw chicken livers in the refrigerator. Trim away any connective tissue or discolored portions.
  2. Season: Lightly coat with seasoned flour, salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs, if desired.
  3. Heat: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter or cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook: Add sliced onions and sauté until tender. Remove onions and add chicken livers to the skillet.
  5. Sauté: Cook approximately 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Serve: Return onions to the skillet and serve with mashed potatoes, vegetables, or your favorite side dishes.

Farm Kitchen Tip: For a delicious country-style meal, sauté chicken livers with butter, onions, and a little garlic. Chicken liver also makes a wonderful homemade pâté when cooked thoroughly and blended with butter and seasonings.
